Dr Nick Dennis, BSc (Econ), MSc (Econ), PhD, MSc (Oxon), MBA, FRSA

Nick has more than 18 years’ experience in senior leadership in British independent, state and international schools in the UK and Asia.

Nick has particular expertise in helping schools navigate complexity, bringing together academic strategy, school improvement, organisational change, data and emerging technology. He has an interest in helping school leaders move from reacting to developments in artificial intelligence to making considered strategic choices about their implications for teaching, assessment and the organisation of schools.

Career

Nick has held senior leadership positions across the state, independent and international sectors. He has been Deputy Head Academic at Berkhamsted School and Nottingham High School, Director of Studies at St Francis’ College, and Deputy Head Academic at Kellett School, The British International School in Hong Kong.

At Kellett, Nick led a programme of academic improvement that contributed to record public examination results, improved value-added performance and record Oxbridge offers. Alongside academic strategy, his work included assessment and reporting, quality assurance, data-informed decision-making, digital strategy and the school’s response to generative AI.

More recently, Nick served as Senior Deputy Head Academic and Co-Curricular at St Helen’s School, Northwood, and is currently working in senior leadership at CATS Cambridge.

Alongside his school leadership work, Nick is an Honorary Fellow of the Schools History Project has also presented a series of historical documentary films for the World History Project. He has written and spoken widely on school leadership, curriculum, educational technology, AI, diversity and education.

Education

Nick is a graduate of the University of Wales, the University of Oxford and holds an MBA from the University of York. He has completed Oxford Saïd Business School programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Executive Leadership and Strategic Leadership and is a Certified AI Professional.
